Joetown – Pills and Ammo

Joetown – Pills and Ammo
Joetown Records

(4/5)

Doctors would never prescribe pills and ammo, but lucky for you, I’m no doctor! I’m gonna suggest you intake Pills and Ammo at least twice a day for the first few weeks, then take as needed. Now, of course I’m not talking about physical pills and ammo (refer to the italicized version), I’m talking about Joetown’s newest album. Being a fan of great Rock music myself, I really took to this album fairly quickly and gathered some influences from Alice in Chains, Rob Zombie, Black Label Society, and more. You know you can’t resist a mixture like that! As an overall album, Pills and Ammo goes beyond just those influences and really provides a great Rock experience. If I were to suggest my favorite tracks, I would be listing about 75% of this album, but to provide the greatest experience, I would suggest listening to “Hole in my Soul” (Track 1), “All my Angels” (Track 5), “American Altar” (Track 6), and “Broken Man” (Track 9). All of these tracks have different aspect that make then unique and excellent. Aside from the main tracks, I would also suggest really listening to the couple of transition tracks on the album. “Devil as Woman” (Track 8 ) has a great Delta Blues feel to it (I wish it could be turned into a longer track), and “Tres Mujeres” (Track 10) is basically a solo battle between guitar and drums. Both of these tracks really throw in some extra dimension to the overall album. All in all, I would suggest this album to any Rock fans (particularly for the bands listed above) or anyone looking to get into Rock music.
